Notes:
Microalbuminuria is a marker for renal disease and risk factor for macrovascular disease.
Screening for and treatment of microalbuminuria is recommended.
Glycemic control may prevent and does slow the progression o f disease.
ACE inhibitors slow and may prevent progression form microalbuminuria to overt nephropathy.
Aggressive BP control is vital, combination of ACE and Calcium channel blocker may have added benefits in this role.
