Notes:
Fioretto et al reported in the New England Journal the reversal of diabetic lesions in type 1 patients who had under gone pancreas transplant.
These patients had their native kidneys, Bx proven nephropathy, on immunosuppressive therapy.
Reversal of lesions required 10 years of euglycemia.
Could 10 years of intensive insulin therapy have similar benefits?
How low do the blood sugars have to be to gain such a benefit.
Does proinsulin and c-peptide play a role in this?
