Notes:
Ravid looked at 94 normotensive type 2 diabetic patients prospectively over 5 years. These patients were randomized to enalapril or placebo.
This studied showed stabilization of proteinuria and renal function with enalapril while the placebo group showed an increase in albuminuria and deterioration of renal function.
The mean arterial pressure decreased by 3 mmHg in the treatment group.
Interpreted by the authors to mean that enalapril stabilized renal function by means other than lowering of blood pressure.
