Albumin excretion is also decreased a t night when lying supine and has a significant day to day variation of up to 40%. For these reasons it is recommended to repeat a positive test at least once within 6 months before labeling a patient with microalbuminuria and obtaining first morning void samples or at least collecting all samples at nearly the same time.
